INDYCAR

Project Overview
About the Client
INDYCAR, owned by Penske Entertainment, is the sanctioning body for North America’s premier open-wheel racing series, including the Indianapolis 500.
The Work
A deadline-driven full redesign and rebuild of the INDYCAR website, capable of supporting high-traffic, content-heavy racing seasons for years to come.
What I Did
Working collaboratively with a client-employee frontend peer, we developed a component-based design system based on high-fidelity Figma designs. This grew into a robust click-through prototype site featuring realistic racing data. We leveraged Figma's new feature to export design tokens into the design system's CSS architecture.
I held primary ownership over the development of the site header and responsive navigation, including the content-rich mega menus and multi-level mobile flyouts, a specialized development ownership role I also held during the New Era Technology migration project.
I proactively conducted technical research into .NET-compatible component libraries, specifically evaluating Telerik for enterprise functionality. I built proof-of-concept prototypes to determine the technical feasibility of applying CSS styling to Telerik components to match the Figma comps.
Technical Initiative & Leadership
Throughout the project, I frequently presented design system development work to the cross-functional team and to stakeholders, providing status and implementation options for complex responsive layouts. By maintaining this communication, the backend developers and the broader team could make informed decisions on component behavior well ahead of integration into the .NET based website.
